My blog
Day 1. - Thursday 23 September
I am off to Shanghai now! Can't wait to see the city. I am going to tour the west and east side tomorrow and visit the World Expo too. Very excited!
Day 2. - Saturday 25 September
I went to visit the Expo today, starting with the Australia pavilion. They had a great show in the middle of the building, flashing lights, music and six rotating screens. Later I visited the UK pavilion, it looks like a hedgehog! Then we went up to the top of a building in the city to get a great view of the west and east side. It was fantastic! I will start working on my new drawing tomorrow, but now I am back at the hotel and will just relax for now.
Day 3. - Sunday 26 September
Today I started to work on my drawing of Shanghai at the Art College in Eastern China University. They have their own gallery there. They set up my paper on an easel and I started my work at 10am. A lot of people came to see me and take photos and film. Shanghai looks great, the west side is the brand new part and the east is the historic town. Today went very well and I think I might finish the drawing by tomorrow. Now back to the hotel and then dinner at 7pm.
Day 4. - Monday 27 September
Today I went back to the university and continued to work on my drawing. They brought me KFC chicken for lunch. Early afternoon the press came again and I signed my drawing. It is all done now! We did some more filming at the Bund and on the top of another building. After the last shot I went back to the hotel to relax. Tomorrow I will visit Hang Zhou and then later I will sign my prints at Book City.
Day 5. - Tuesday 28 September
Today was a rainy day and we got cought in it after lunch at the Bund. We had a great view from the restaurant and I took some photos too. We went to do some shopping in the evening, they have a lot of little shops in the area. I will have some more interviews later and then going to have my signing session at Book City on Friday.
Day 6. - Wednesday 29 September
Today we had a tour in Central Shanghai and had lunch at Xiantiandi. They have rebuilt the ancient buildings and it looks like a mixture of old and new. We also went to the financial district and strolled around a bit. I am going to have a bit of a rest and then Friday I am going to go to Book City and start signing my prints.
Day 7. - Friday 01 October
I went to Book City today, there were a lot of people there and they played my film on a screen too. I had six bodyguards and gave people authographs. A young girl came up to me and showed me her drawing of my portrait. It is very nice! It was a great day and I enjoyed it very much. Now back to the hotel!
Day 8. - Saturday 02 October
I finished signing my prints and then I was driven to te Bund in the evening. I viewed the skyline at night, it was beautiful. It started to rain so we tried to catch a taxi, but we had to wait for quite long to find one. In the end we got home and I finished packing my suitcase. So I am off to London in the morning. Shanghai was great and I will come back one day.
